How Dr. Chen Helps

Dr. Chen practices the Blair Chiropractic Technique. The Blair chiropractic technique is a specific system of analyzing and adjusting the upper cervical vertebrae of the spinal column. When these vertebrae misalign in such a way as to interfere with the brain stem and spinal cord as they exit through the floor of the skull and into the neural canal. Special attention is given to the first two cervical vertebrae, the atlas and axis, as they are the most freely moveable vertebrae in the spinal column and the ones most commonly misaligned.
After many years of research and study of all the techniques that were developing at the time, Dr. B.J. Palmer the developer of chiropractic realized that the only place a person could truly have interference to the nervous system was at the level of the base of the skull; and the atlas and axis vertebrae. There are no intervertebral discs between the skull and the atlas, or between the atlas and axis vertebrae. Most movements of the head and neck occur at this level. The joint surfaces in this area move more on a horizontal plane rather than a vertical plane as in the rest of the spine. This area is not supplied with the abundance of supporting ligaments that are found in the rest of the spine. As a result of these characteristics of the cervical spine, it becomes the weakest link in the chain when exposed to the forces of trauma such as the birth process, falls, auto accidents, stress etc.

The purpose of the Blair Chiropractic technique is not to diagnose or treat diseases or conditions, but to analyze and correct vertebral subluxations in an accurate, precise and specific manner to allow the body’s intelligence, (see chiropractic philosophy) to mend, repair and maintain health from within.

Dr. Chen completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, San Diego and graduated from the Southern California University (formerly Los Angeles College of Chiropractic) in 2014.

During his chiropractic school, he sought to learn all he could about correcting spinal misalignments. Specifically, he wanted to cure his own debilitating chronic neck and low back pain, which was never fully resolved by conventional therapies. This led him to the Blair upper cervical chiropractic technique. After learning from leaders in the upper cervical field, he realized that his calling was to become an upper cervical chiropractor.

Based in Los Angeles, his primary goal is to alleviate pain and store proper spinal function and alignment. Through using the Blair method, the adjustments are gentle and free from the popping and cracking regularly associated with chiropractic care. He is committed to helping people reach their fullest potential and living a high quality of life.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Hard to treat chronic fatigue syndrome can often be caused by a misalignment of the C1 and C2 vertebrae in your upper neck. Upper Cervical Care can efficiently treat chronic fatigue that is often difficult treat by more conventional methods.

Meniere's Disease

Meniere’s disease is associated with loss of balance, vertigo, hearing problems, nausea, and ringing of the ears.  This condition is often treated by adjusting the C1 and C2 vertebrae with Upper Cervical Care.

Chronic Pain

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they.

Foot Pain

Most people would never think that a neck injury could be the underlying cause of foot spasms and pain.  However, the Upper Cervical Spine houses the brain-stem and this area is responsible for muscle tone control throughout most of the body.

High Blood Pressure

In order to have normal blood pressure, you must have proper communication between the brain and the body. When neck misalignment occurs near the brain stem, brain to body communication is affected which may result in high blood pressure.

Long Term Wellness

Long Term Wellness can be achieved by evaluating your current health and setting goals to define daily, weekly, and monthly actions to maintain your health over your lifetime.

Mental Health

Many mental health problems are the result of a traumatic injury in the past. A simple whiplash accident can dislodge the C-1(atlas) vertebrae causing neurological complications and result in long-term chronic mental health problems.

Migraine Headaches

A misalignment of the upper neck vertebra in the upper cervical often causes migraines that seem to mysteriously appear and afflict sufferers.  Upper Cervical care can relieve these symptoms and should definitely be considered for long term relief.
